A Mediterranean treasure

Cork oaks grow around the western Mediterranean, and Portugal produces around half of the world's cork. The bark has been used for millennia, from sealing wine to floating fishing nets. Pressing it into thin, flexible sheets for fashion is a much newer idea.

How it's harvested

Skilled workers strip the outer bark by hand, roughly every nine years, without damaging the tree. The bark is dried, boiled, pressed into blocks and sliced into thin sheets, which are bonded to a fabric backing to make a supple, leather-like material.

Made from the bark of cork oak trees, which regenerates after harvesting.

Lightweight, water-resistant, and durable with a unique texture. Cork leather is naturally resistant to moisture and abrasion, making it ideal for various applications.

Ideal for Accessories (bags, wallets, belts), Home Decor (coasters, placemats), and small Apparel items. Cork leather is popular in vegan and eco-conscious markets.

Caring for it

Wipe clean with a damp cloth. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. Store in a dry area to maintain material quality.
