From bottle to fibre

Since the 1990s, used plastic bottles have been recycled into polyester fibre for fleece and outerwear. More recently, programmes that collect plastic from beaches, rivers and coastal communities have fed that material into textile supply chains.

How it's made

Collected plastic is sorted, washed and shredded into flakes, then melted and extruded into fine filaments. The filaments are spun into yarn and knitted or woven into fabric with the strength and quick-drying feel of polyester.

How it feels

Smooth, durable and quick-drying, with the easy care of polyester.

Where it works

Outerwear, swimwear, activewear, bags and linings.

Caring for it

Wash cold in a laundry bag to reduce microfibre shedding, and air dry.
