A working fibre returns

For centuries hemp was a working fabric: sailcloth, rope and hard-wearing clothes. As cotton came to dominate denim in the 20th century, hemp faded away. Denim makers are now bringing it back for jeans that last longer and ask less of the land.

How it's woven

Like classic denim, it's a twill with indigo-dyed warp yarns and undyed weft, which gives the fabric its diagonal line and pale inside. Hemp fibre blended into the yarn adds strength and a slightly crisper, more textured hand.

What it's made of

Made from a blend of hemp and cotton, with the hemp percentage varying (usually 20-30%) to enhance durability and eco-friendliness while maintaining the classic denim feel.

How it feels

Strong, durable, and breathable, with a natural texture and similar look to traditional denim. Hemp’s antimicrobial and moisture-wicking properties add functionality, while the fabric softens with each wash. Hemp denim is more sustainable due to the low environmental impact of hemp cultivation.

Ideal for Apparel (jeans, jackets, overalls) and Accessories (denim bags, hats), emphasizing durability and sustainability.

Caring for it

Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle. Air dry or tumble dry on low; hemp denim will soften with wear. Avoid bleach, which can damage the fibers. Low iron if needed; natural creasing and texture add to hemp denim’s aesthetic.

Often certified by OEKO-TEX® and GOTS (for organic cotton) to ensure safety and sustainable practices.
