Solving nylon's longevity problem
Nylon's durability is both its strength and its biggest environmental problem: discarded nylon can persist for a very long time. Fibre makers have developed nylon yarns with additives that help microorganisms break the fibre down in landfill conditions, without changing everyday performance.
How it works
An additive is built into the polymer during manufacturing. It doesn't change how the yarn performs in wear or washing, but in landfill conditions it helps microorganisms break the fibre down. How quickly that happens depends on the conditions.
What it's made of
Made from plant-based fibers that are engineered to decompose more rapidly in landfill conditions. Often includes a mix of natural fibers like organic cotton or bamboo, sometimes combined with biopolymers that promote accelerated breakdown.
How it feels
Soft and breathable, with durability suited to intended use. Enhanced degradation materials break down more quickly under specific environmental conditions.

Ideal for Apparel (casual wear, activewear, kids’ clothing), Home Textiles (bedding, curtains), and Accessories (bags, pouches)
Caring for it
Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle using a mild detergent to preserve fabric longevity. Air dry or tumble dry on low; excessive heat may impact the degradation-enhancing properties. Avoid bleach or harsh chemicals to maintain the fabric’s integrity. Low iron if necessary; some natural texture or creasing may add to the fabric’s eco-aesthetic.
Certification
Commonly certified by OEKO-TEX® and may hold additional certifications indicating biodegradability or compostability, such as BPI or Cradle to Cradle certifications. These certifications ensure the materials meet environmental and safety standards, including enhanced breakdown performance in waste conditions.
