An old fibre meets a new one

Hemp is one of the oldest textile fibres, woven for thousands of years. Lyocell is one of the newest: developed in the 1970s and brought to market as Tencel in the 1990s. Blending them brings together hemp's toughness and lyocell's softness, both from plant sources.

How it's made

Hemp fibre is extracted from the plant's stalk, while lyocell is spun from dissolved wood pulp in a closed-loop process that recovers its solvent. The two fibres are blended and spun together into a yarn that carries the best of each.

What it's made of

Blended with hemp and Tencel, often around 40-60% hemp and 40-60% Tencel, creating a soft, breathable fabric. Tencel enhances the drape and softness, while hemp adds durability.

How it feels

Soft, smooth, and breathable with a silk-like drape. Tencel enhances hemp’s moisture-wicking propeties.

Where it works

Ideal for Apparel (blouses, dresses, pants), Home Textiles (bedding, pillowcases), and eco-conscious Accessories (scarves, wraps). Popular for products that emphasize softness, drape, and sustainability.

Caring for it

Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle. Air dry or tumble dry on low; avoid high heat to protect fibers. Low iron if necessary; Tencel’s smoothness often reduces the need for ironing.

Certification

Certified by OEKO-TEX® and FSC® (for Tencel), ensuring responsible sourcing and production.
