One of humanity's first fibres

Hemp has been woven into cloth for thousands of years, from ancient China to medieval Europe, where it made sails, rope and everyday clothing. Its use declined in the 20th century, and it has returned as a fibre that grows fast and needs little irrigation or pesticide.

How it's made

Hemp fibre comes from the stalk of the plant. The stalks are retted, broken and combed to release long, strong fibres, which are blended with cotton and spun into yarn. More hemp makes a crisper, tougher fabric; more cotton makes it softer.

Generally a blend of 55-80% hemp and 20-45% cotton. The specific blend varies based on desired softness, durability, and application of the fabric.

Soft, durable, and breathable, with natural antimicrobial and moisture-wicking properties. Hemp cotton fabric becomes softer with each wash, making it comfortable for all-day wear.

Caring for it

Machine wash cold with mild detergent. Air dry or tumble dry on low. Low iron if needed; hemp cotton’s natural texture often requires minimal ironing.
