An ancient fibre, grown the old way

People were spinning cotton in South Asia and the Americas thousands of years ago, independently of each other. For most of that history, all cotton was grown without synthetic chemicals. The organic movement formalised that practice, and in 2006 the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) set a shared rule for organic textiles from field to finished garment.

How it's grown

Farmers build soil health with crop rotation and compost, and manage pests with natural predators and trap crops instead of chemical sprays. Much organic cotton is rain-fed. After harvest the fibre is ginned, spun and knitted or woven like any other cotton.

Caring for it

Machine Wash on a gentle cycle in cold water. Use mild detergent to avoid chemical buildup. Avoid bleach (opt for oxygen-based bleach if needed). Air dry when possible; if using a dryer, choose a low heat setting to maintain fiber integrity.
