From waste stream to yarn
Textile recycling began with rags and wool. Polyester made from recycled plastic bottles took off in the 1990s, and today recycled and blended fibres are one of the main ways brands lower the footprint of everyday clothing.
How it's made
Waste is collected, sorted and cleaned. Plastics are melted or chemically broken down and extruded as new fibre; textiles are shredded or dissolved. Recovered fibres are often blended with new ones to reach the right strength and softness.
How it feels
Depends on the blend: typically soft and durable, with consistent performance.

Caring for it
Wash cold and air dry to extend the life of the fibres.
